Preventing Kauri Dieback

LI: To understand how we can help prevent Kauri Dieback disease and why we need to do this.

Our Year 7/8 camp was at Kokako Lodge in Hunua. Our challenge today was to use our smart searching skills to find out about the kokako bird and create an infographic to share the facts we researched in our own words. It was  interesting because I can learn about Kairi dieback.

Camp Moive

LI: To create a collage of images or short movie that reflects my time at camp

Our challenge in with our poem was to chose our words carefully so that we painted a clear picture of what we were describing in the mind of our readers. I have described what it was like to have fun help each other and work together.

Working in Groups

LI: To understand that everyone has a role to play when we are working in groups

In LS2 we learn best when we learn with and from ecah other,  Your responsibility as a group member is to participate, Contribute, Encourage each other, and invole each other. How working in a group helped me understand more about the kuaka because they gave  different information about the animal and we created that into ideas to put it on our work. Why talking to others about your learning is important to help us communicate to each other to give us ideas for the work we have been working on, Something I enjoyed while doing this activity is that we all collabrated and participated as a group.

Pepeha

LI: To let others know who I am so they can make connections to me and my place in the world.

Our challenge today was to write and record our pepeha to introduce ourselves.

I found this very fun and inseteing becauseI found out that my ancetors came in 1926.

The Kokako

LI: To use our smart searching skills

Our Year 7/8 camp was at Kokako Lodge in Hunua. Our challenge today was to use our smart searching skills to find out about the kokako bird and create an infographic to share the facts we researched in our own words. Something I found interesting about the kokako bird was that the kokako bird is a large song bird.

A Moment in Time

LI: To write a poem that describes a moment in time

At camp we had lots of challenge activities to try. Our challenge in with our poem was to chose our words carefully so that we painted a clear picture of what we were describing in the mind of our readers. We used our four senses which was what our thought is, how we felt, what we saw and what we heard. I have described what it was like to do High Beam and how it felt when we were testing the Hight Beam. Me and Lila chose this challenge because we thought is challenging and fun.

What Learning Should Look Like in LS2

LI: To understand the story behind our flag

Our challenge today was to create a collaborative presentation that reflects the story behind our NZ flag. We did this by looking at how our flag has changed over time. Something I found interesting was that the flag was originally made from a missionary named Henry William,  He styled the flag of the church missionary society such as the British White Ensign, Which also is a St george’s Cross with a flag in the corner.

Exploring AI

LI: To identify and understand how descriptive language is used to create a clear picture of a setting in a text.

This is the image I created using the Adobe Express. I found this activity challenging because when giving the AI generator something to generate it sometimes it inserts something different to what Iwanted but I found it fun because I got to make my own using my imaginations and creativity.

Something I learnt when using prompts for AI is if you want something to be inserted and it doesn’t work you should try being more specific.

Who was Samuel Marsden?

LI : To understand who Samuel Marsden was, To see our local whenua through Samuel Marsdens eyes and to understand the importance of Samuel Marsden diary.

Our task for inquiry was to create a DLO about Samuel Marsden and his life when he growing up. Samuel Marsden was one of the first of many missonary’s who came to New Zealand. In the start of his life he went to Hull Grammar School and later on and went to Madelene College in Cambridge. This was the start of his life.  Somthing that I found intresting about this man himself was that he made seven visits to New Zealand in total with his last being on 1937.

I enjoyed this task because I know a lot of facts and details about this man that I did not know before this knowledge hopefully encourages me to learn more about him and many other missionarys.
