Waitzing Matilda Poem

LI: To understand the story within the poem.

For this task, we made a DLO of Waltzing Matilda. The paragraph represents the events that happened in the poem of Waltzing Matilda. For the full story, there was a swagman located in the billabong, he steals a sheep and was caught by the troopers. But when he was cornered, he made a decision to drown in the lake because he knew the outcome if he were to be put in jail, as poverty was inside there.

Something I found interesting about this text was how the swagman chose death over being caught.

LI: To Making Sense of Unfamiliar Text

For this task our main focus this week was learning and exploring about the shearers strike. Our group looked at the two perspectives of the shearers strike. When we read both of them we formed an opinion of which we thought was a better argument than the other. our main focus this week was learning and exploring about the shearers strike.

Poppy

Last Week for our reading we learned about poppys. We use our small research skill to find about poppys and we went to go in groups for this research. We got a piece of newsprint papper and on the newsprint we write down the ideas that were gonna research about. When we finished we made a Google Sildes telling us about Poppys. And then when were done we went up to present to the other groups. When we finished presenting out teacher give us some feedback on our Poppy Research.

Once a Panther

LI: to identify the key historical context and events related to the Polynesian Panthers and the Dawn Raids as depicted in the graphic novel.

For today’s reading learning activity, we learnt about another connection between the present and the past about the Polynesian Panthers. Me and my reading group read a fiction book about the Polynesian Panthers called “Once a Panther”. Some of the information I learnt is the story of the Dawn Raids between the Government and the Polynesian Panthers. Reading the text added to my prior knowledge that I have learnt from the 2 previous texts connected the history of the Polynesian Panthers.

Mapping the Migratory Flight of the Kuaka

LI: To use Google My Maps to show the migratory flight path of the Kuaka.

This week our task was to make a DLO Using my map to see how far from alaska to Nz. TheKuaka Can Fly over 11’6oo Kilometers And They can fly that far because they have a type of diet that makes them bulk up and they shred. The always have stop to refuel their body with insections and that gives them energy.

One intresting fact is Around 80,000 to 100,000 Kuaka arrive in New Zealand each year, from late September.

The Kuaka

LI: To create an infographic that tells others about the migration of the kuaka

For this weeks reading we were learning about the kuaka bird. We made a DLO to express our learning though our blogs.

Something interesting I found out about the Kuaka was that the kuaka Bird preserves energy by standing on one leg.

Dot to Dot Connections

t

Something our group found interesting was that the kuaka birds can mingrate place to place. They had actually fly  from Alaska to New Zealand. It gives me more ideas of how or when the kuaka bird migrate. This is what i had learn about and gave my ideas to. We learned from each other and communicate and combinie ideas with eachother. Kuaka Birds have rough time finding there homes.

Working in Groups

LI: To understand that everyone has a role to play when we are working in groups

In LS2 we learn best when we learn with and from ecah other,  Your responsibility as a group member is to participate, Contribute, Encourage each other, and invole each other. How working in a group helped me understand more about the kuaka because they gave  different information about the animal and we created that into ideas to put it on our work. Why talking to others about your learning is important to help us communicate to each other to give us ideas for the work we have been working on, Something I enjoyed while doing this activity is that we all collabrated and participated as a group.

Reading: Making the Team

Our reading text was about making the team and it about a young girl trying to make it into a rugby team. We then explained our predictions about the story is going to be about and make comments about what some of the words mean in the story and other words that mean the same thing. Then we answered More questions by using the comment tool. After that we did a changelle t0 make a poster about a famous sports star. Then at the end we did inferring things by looking at the pictures.

Reading – sports poster
